TRAVEL INSURANCE
The supplier highly advises hirer's take out highest level of travel insurance available. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.
PROTECTION PACKAGE
Personal injury- This vehicle has 3rd party insurance cover, it is likely that any other vehicle involved in an accident also has this same cover (3rd party). In the outcome of an accident, circumstances depending the renter may be entitled to claim for personal injury against the 3rd party insurance of the person responsible for the accident. The extent of the insurance differs from State to State and the supplier strongly recommends that all passengers take out their own personal travel insurance.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
The vehicle is insured for damage to it or damage to the property of the 3rd party. However the renter is responsible: Up to the amount of the applicable liability for the cost of such damage to 3rd party property, or to the rented vehicle. The renters also responsible for the cost of demurrage for the period the vehicle is unavailable due to repairs. The liability applies in respect of each claim, not per rental. In addition to the liability: An administration fee of $75 will be charged per claim. The liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident is reported to the supplier, not at the completion of the rental period. If a vehicle is damaged and undriveable, the supplier is under no obligation to supply a replacement vehicle or refund any unused rental days.
STANDARD-LIABILITY
‘The suppliers’ rental charge includes a standard liability of $3500 per claim. A bond of $3500 will be collected at the time of entering into the rental contract. Payment of this bond is only accepted by credit card and unfortunately a 2% surcharge will apply. The $3500 will be debited to the credit card account immediately.
The standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following options:
REDUCTION OPTION 1
A Liability of $2000 per claim applies. This option can be purchased by paying to the supplier $20 per day. The maximum amount payable for this option per rental is $1000 – therefore 50 days rental.
A Bond of $2000 will be collected at the time of entering into the rental contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card and again, a 2% surcharge will apply. The $2000 will be debited to the credit card account immediately.
REDUCTION OPTION 2
A $500 Liability per claim applies. This option can be purchased by paying the supplier $30 per day. The maximum amount payable for this option per rental is $1500- therefore 50 days rental. Under this option for rentals over 21 days one windscreen will be covered for accidental damage. Should these amounts be exceeded the cost to repair or replace the items will not be covered and will be the responsibility of the renter.
A bond of $1000 will be collected at the time of entering into the rental contract. This bond is payable to the supplier by an open signed credit card imprint with an authorisation obtained (sufficient funds must be available).
BOND
For security purposes, only a credit card can be used to provide a bond. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the Bond upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is severally inclusively liable for any damage to the rental vehicle.
The bond is fully refundable when the vehicle is returned to the original location – or location as contractually states, full of fuel and all other terms of the Terms and Conditions been complied with. Should damage be present to the vehicle on its return, the bond will be used to cover the costs of repairs up to the amount of the liability. However is terms of the rental contract are breached and the bond not enough to cover damage than any other costs will apply.
FULL RESPONSIBILTY
The renter is responsible for the cost at all times for:
• Damage caused where terms of the Rental contract have been breached
• Any vehicles in unauthorised area
• Damage to the Awning, overhead, or under body of the vehicle
• Damage caused from the use of incorrect fuel or contaminated fuel
• Damage or loss to any personal possessions
• Damage caused to the vehicle when using the vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic
• Damage caused to the vehicle by the renters wilful conduct
• Damage caused due to a single vehicle rollover
• Damage caused to the vehicle in anyway by part or total water submersion or salt water
• Damage caused by negligence i.e. ignoring mechanical faults causing more severe damage
• Single vehicle accidents and accidents involving animals
• (Driving in darkness is incredibly dangerous in the Australian Outback)
Please note- All accidents will be classed as single vehicle accidents unless all the verifiable documentation of the other party and their vehicle is supplied i.e. Rego, Drivers License and possible witness statements.
